In Peru’s Deserts, Melting Glaciers Are a Godsend (Until They’re Gone)

Here is a very interesting article from The New York Times. It illustrates the benefits of climate change for some populations. But these benefits are transient. Soon the glaciers will have melted, and the water that has irrigated the valleys will be gone. The local economy that emerged through agriculture will collapse. What will become of the inhabitants? Will they fall back into misery? Will they have to leave their land? To go where?…
